Music

Our music curriculum aims to engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music, whether that be as a performer, composer or as part of an audience. Children are encouraged to explore their own talents and to develop them further, allowing them to: sing, perform, compose, and to listen and appreciate a variety of genres/composers, with increasing accuracy and musical understanding.

Through the involvement with the Wider Opportunities scheme, children in Year 4 have the opportunity to learn how to play a brass instrument; those children who show a flair and passion for music continue with instrumental lessons as they progress through the school.

We work in close partnership with the Hull Music Service, and their linked partners, to develop the quality of music provision at Highlands, as well as providing children with the opportunities to engage in external musical events and projects.
